The David family have been making wine in the Loire since 1634, making Sebastien 15th generation winemaker. The 15-hectare domaine is situated at Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil and only Cabernet Franc is grown, mainly from vines planted by Sebastien's parent shortly after the end of the 2nd World War, but also from vines planted in the 1930's. The vines grow on limestone and clay soils with a little gravel - ideal for the cultivation of Cabernet Franc. All is biodynamic at the estate, hand-harvesting is employed and the wines are fermented with natural yeasts and contain no added sulphur. This delicious red is aged in clay amphora and is pressed by the traditional foulage method (i.e. by foot). Hurluberlu translates into 'crank' or 'eccentric', much like Sebastien himself! Hurluberlu Saint-Nicholas de Bourgeuil Sebastien Davidis a crunchy, wild, vibrant, Natural Cabernet Franc. L'Hurluberlu is fresh, brimming with cherry and cranberry flavours that dance all over your palate. Don't be put off by the wild, unfettered appearance, this is what wine from the earth looks like, nothing put in, nothing taken out, just pure 'Vin de Terroir'.
