The 'Mild' style has encompassed a variety of beer characteristics in its long history - strong, weak, dark, light, or simply any beer that hadn't been left knocking about for long enough to go stale. In its most popular form as a low-ABV crowd-pleaser, sessionable yet sweet and malt-forward, Mild was a stalwart among the working class and dominated beer sales in British pubs. The rising popularity of Bitter and the advent of European Lagers in the latter half of the 20th century very nearly killed off the Mild, but it lives on and today is itself resurging in popularity. Our take on this style uses 11 malt varieties to create layers of sweet flavours knitted together with a traditional English yeast strain.
