Bluntrock Yakima Dreams IPA 6.5%

On Monday the 8th of June we hosted Yakima Chief Hops for a workshop focused on sustainability and new hop development. The event was the largest YCH have hosted in the UK, and was attended by over 30 different breweries from around Cornwall and Devon. As part of the event we brewed Yakima Dreams, a collaboration beer using exclusively YCH hops! The aim was to showcase the newest hop varieties and liquid hop products from YCH. Dynaboost which is a flowable hop extract for use in the hot side of the brewery, typically the whirlpool, and Hyperboost which is an even more concentrated liquid extract that is added into the fermenting beer in lieu of a dry hop. Dave & Ruben from YCH took the lead when it came to selecting the hop bill and they decided to go for Chinook, Ekuanot, Dolcita, Krush, Talus and Idaho 7. This wider selection of hops has enabled us to brew a beer with real complexity and flavour, with classic piney notes from Chinook complimented with berry and blackcurrant flavours from new variety Dolcita. Talus contributes a spicy backbone, whilst Ekuanot brings a funky edge to proceedings. This really is a beer for the hop-lovers, and it’s supported and even cushioned by a classic Bluntrock grist for plenty of body and sweetness to balance out the beer.
